Dombummel (2024)
We love the Hamburger DOM. But on our walks at the DOM, we saw unicorns, Disney characters, and talking ice creams next to womanized sexy potatoes, women partially dressed, jokes about women being witches, and many female breasts and butts.
In winter 2023, we encountered this scene: a fake airport parking lot with witches’ brooms instead of cars with the saying “Frauenparkplatz” (woman’s park space). Using this as the starting point, we delve into Silvia Federici's book "Caliban and the Witch," which talks about the witches’ hunt and its role in capitalism development.
We also identify categories in the pictures of women at the DOM. For example, in “Sexy Labour,” we find images of women cooking, serving, baking, and cleaning. Or, in “Faceless Woman, “ we collected images that show only sexualized women's body parts, such as breasts or legs.
Our goal is to raise questions such as: For whom are these images? Who decides about them? Do we need them?
